Difference between 1970 Nova and Nova SS?

I’m really not an expert on cars but I love them. I was wondering what the difference between a 1970 Nova and a 1970 Nova SS is. And if you have a picture that would be ideal. I think it’s just the trim styling, and I know SS stands for Super Sport. I’m thinking about buying a 1970 Nova and dressing it up to look like an SS and I’m trying to figure out what I need to do.

i have a 1973 nova SS, and i want to verify that it is indeed a true SS, how would i go about doing that?

ive been told that there a certain numbers or letters in the vin number that tell if the car is a true SS or not, but i dont know whick ones mean what. any help?

I’m not sure if you can go by the vin # or not on those cars, all the vin will tell you is if it was a V8 or 6 cyl., the vin quit telling if it was an ss in 1971, usually the only way you could tell an ss after 71 was the dash was differen’t as it had all the gauges and not the idiot lights.

Whats the top seed of a 73 Chevy Nova SS?

Does anyone know I have a friend who is about to buy one, and I wanted to know?

Well, of course it depends on the engine. I’d say he could expect a top of 95-110, depending.. If it was modified it can obviously do much more, but that is probably standard for a stock chevy- It may have either a 307" 5.0L six cylin, or a 350" 5.7 V-8, that was typical of those years. Those cars remind me of the early 80’s Malibu, looks-wise.

The "SS" option in those years Novas wasn’t really a guarantee of a suped-up (Super Sport) or turbo engine…but more of a trim package. So, your friend’s bragging rights of having a (‘73) "SS" versus a "Custom" are not necessarily that great.

I have a 1971 nova ss! i want to get the car finshed with Copper Head PPG Paint. How much will that cost?

May 202010

Posted in nova ss | 2 Comments »

Who has the lowest price?

that depends on the type paint,PPG,is probably one of the best paints i have used in a long time, but body work will cost you extra.the paint alone can cost 350 bucks a gallon real easy, and a lot more,so you,ll have to shop around for a deal on the paint, then the labor of getting it done will run another 2 grand at least to get a really good job,if your going to use base coat clear coat that is cheaper to get done, polyurethane is which is what i use a lot is really expensive, all i can tell you is shop around on both paint and labor, these days it cost too much to paint a car,and do a good job on it,it could cost you any where from 2k all the way up to 4k to get that one done right, good luck with it.

i am looking at a 74 nova ss auto that is an automatic on the floor but still has the shifter select on the dash. where all dashboards the same or is there a difference?I dont see where the column is missing a shifter but the column may have been changed.

i owned a new 74 SS,,and it had the shifter in the floor but it had the indicator in the dash,,,they came like this,,mine was weird to get used to,,but yes it probably come like this,,as long as it don’t have the shifter handle on the dash it is probably a true SS Nova,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.
